Jan Terlouw (1931 Kamperveen) worked as a nuclear physicist before going into politics in 1970. He was a leader of D66, Minister of Economic Affairs, Queen's Commissioner in Gelderland and senator of the Senate. At the same time he made his debut as a children's writer with Pyotr and Uncle Willibrord. His best-known books are How to Become King (awarded a Golden Pen and turned into a movie in 2012) and Winter in Wartime (the movie in 2008 came close to a million visitors).
